Structural Welding for New Offshore Mooring System

  • Location: West Africa Offshore Mooring Field

  • Duration: 3 weeks (September 2024)

  • Scope of Work:
    Fabricate and install a permanent mooring system including subsea anchor piles and cross bracing for a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.

  • Execution:

    • Divers conducted seabed prep using high-pressure jetting tools.

    • Welded 8 anchor piles (each 12m in length) to cross-brace frames using hyperbaric welding techniques.

    • Conducted real-time remote NDT via ROV to ensure weld precision.

    • Used AWS D3.6M-certified procedures to meet international standards.

  • Outcome:
    Mooring system passed Bureau Veritas inspection and was fully operational within timeline. Client reported increased vessel stability and load capacity.
