Propeller Blade Replacement and Balancing

  • Client: OceanTrak Marine Logistics

  • Location: Offshore, Gulf of Mexico

  • Duration: 3 days (January 2025)

  • Scope of Work:
Replace a damaged 5-blade bronze propeller on a 120m chemical tanker. The damage occurred due to underwater debris entanglement. Due to the remote location, the operation had to be conducted on-site underwater.

  • Execution:

    • Divers removed existing propeller using hydraulic extraction tools.

    • Transported and secured replacement propeller using submersible lift bag system.

    • Installed new propeller and used underwater dial indicators to ensure balance.

    • Verified RPM stabilization via remote sensor testing.

  • Outcome:
Successfully completed the task in under 72 hours with no need for vessel towage. Reduced the risk of hull vibration damage and ensured long-term efficiency.
